The Moroccan national carrier, Air Maroc has announced the suspension of its flights to some major European countries until further notice.
The Moroccan government took the decission to suspend flights to and from UK, Germany, and Netherlands from 11:59PM on Wednesday 20th October due to the pandemic situation.
The decision to suspend UK, Germany, and Netherland flights is part of the preventive measures taken by the government to curb the infection rate in the country.
“Upon decisions of national authorities and following the pandemic situation, flights to and from Germany, Netherlands, and the UK are suspended from today, Wednesday, October 20,2021, at 23:59HRS (11:59 PM), Morocco’s Flagship Airline Company, (Royal Air Maroc) tweeted."
According to the UK authorities, about 44,000 new COVID-19 cases and 223 deaths were recorded on Tuesday, October 19 while 49,156 COVID -19 Cases were reported on Monday, October 18,2021, which was the largest case since mid-July.
The reports also have it that new infection rates have exceeded 44,000 daily in the previous weeks.
However, the Office for National Statistics estimated that “one in 60 people in England had the virus, one of the highest levels seen in Britain during the pandemic, and cases are the highest in Europe. The number of reported COVID-19 cases in Germany jumped to more than 17,000 in 24 hours.”
“17,015 new COVID-19 infections were registered in Germany within a day. 6,771 infections were recorded the previous day.” Robert Koch Institute (RKI) Stated.
However, Royal Air Maroc has encouraged the affected passengers to demand a refund of their money from the airline or through their booking agents.
