Dutch national carrier, KLM has disclosed its plans to expand its transatlantic capacity, with almost every destination restored and intercontinental flights at about 75 percent of the pre-pandemic capacity.

Just as the United States is planning the reopening of its border to the fully vaccinated travelers from Europe starting November 8, the carrier says it will expand its capacity to more U.S. destinations from the same date to boost recovery from the impact of the pandemic.

"We are going to increase our service to Atlanta to 12 weekly flight services and increase service to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to 11 flights per week. we will also fly three weekly flights to Las Vegas, Miami, and Minneapolis for its winter schedule." The airline stated.

The carrier stated that it has recorded a sharp rise in demand for travel to the Caribbean from the Netherlands, and it is expanding capacity on routes including Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire. Three of KLM's four new destinations are in the region: Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and Bridgetown, Barbados, both of which started on the 16th of October, and Cancún, Mexico, which will commence from the 2nd of November.

According to the carrier, its fourth new destination for the winter will be Mombasa, Kenya, which is scheduled to start in early December pending approval from Kenyan authorities.

It added that service to San José and Liberia in Costa Rica has increased to 4 weekly services compared to last winter. The carrier has also increased capacity to Paramaribo, Suriname, to four flights per week, as against one weekly flight last winter.

For the European network, The carrier noted that: "It has witnessed a sharp rise in demand for both holiday and business travel."

"We plan to operate about 84 percent of the pre-pandemic European capacity over the winter, this includes at least five daily flights to Berlin, London, Paris, and Munich," KLM stated.
