FG Removes Brazil, South African, And Turkey From Red List

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the removal of Brazil, South Africa, and Turkey from the list of countries where travelers are restricted from entering Nigeria.

The chairman of the presidential steering committee on COVID-19 Boss Mustapha disclosed this on Wednesday at a media briefing in Abuja.

Mustapha says "the government took the decision to lift the following an emergency meeting held before the briefing."

according to him, "four countries were placed on high-level restriction for travelers from such countries last June. The PSC has, after a review of the developments in these countries, decided to remove South Africa, Turkey, and Brazil from the restricted list and left India alone on the list, with the revised protocol to be issued in another 24 hours.”

He applauded the UK government for reviewing its travel protocols which allowed fully vaccinated travelers from Nigeria to enter the country without having to quarantine upon arrival.

"As you are aware, the UK has eased restrictions on fully vaccinated travelers from Nigeria to the UK with effect from 11th October. Nigeria welcomes this development and assures that the PSC shall continue to review Nigeria’s protocols based on global developments, science, and national experience." Mustapha added.

He also advised Nigerians to ensure continued adherence to the COVID protocol, increase their vigilance as the festive seasons draw closer.
