Morocco has announced the suspension of all incoming flights for two weeks, starting from Tuesday, November 30,2021.
The suspension comes in response to the new Omicron variant.
According to the government committee in charge of the country’s COVID-19 in a statement, “the measure has already taken effect from 11:59 pm on Monday and would be evaluated regularly to make adjustments if necessary”.
“The decision has been taken because of the quick spread of the new COVID variant, Omicron, namely in Europe and Africa, and in order to protect the health of Moroccan citizens.”
This was disclosed after Israel announced that it would be shutting its borders for foreign tourists over omicron.
The new variant was first detected in South Africa, with infections recorded in several countries, forcing nations to reimpose travel restrictions.
