According to the Singaporean government, "travelers who have visited Nigeria within 14 days before coming to the country will not be allowed to enter over the fear of the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus."
This was made known by the Singaporean Ministry of Health on Friday. "All long-term pass holders and short-term visitors with recent travel history to Ghana, Malawi, and Nigeria within the last 14 days will not be allowed to enter the country, or transit starting from the 5th of December."
"Should the omicron variant be more transmissible than delta and become the globally dominant variant over time, it is a matter of time before it establishes itself in Singapore." It stated.
The government added that "they will need extra measures to buy time to learn more about dealing with the Omicron variant and to continue with its booster programme."
Recall that Canada recently placed Nigeria on its 'Red List' after identifying five people with the new variant, with two who recently visited Nigeria.
Travelers from Bulgaria, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, and Poland are among those that have been banned from entering Singapore from December 7th.
