Air passengers across the country may continue to experience further flight delays and an increase in airfare as the price of aviation fuel continues to increase.
The operators are expected to delay or cancel some of their flights due to the unexpected hike in fuel price.
According to the country's leading operator, Air Peace airline, on its official Twitter page, “we have pushed so far to minimize the effect of the situation on our esteemed passengers’ travel plans to date. But unfortunately, the fuel scarcity is starting to seriously impact our operations as we are likely going to experience flight disruption today and in the coming days until the situation improves."
“We appeal for the utmost understanding of the flying public and regret the possible inconvenience, while we work tirelessly to minimize the impact of the situation.”
"Aviation fuel prices gallop between N400 and N500 at present in some airports." Allen Onyema, the Chairman, Air Peace says.
The cost of aviation fuel has hit an all-time high in various airports around the country as domestic airline operators are groaning over its price and availability most times.
The carriers have cried out over the situation they now face on a daily basis, where aviation fuel is scarce and therefore unavailable at almost all flight destinations. This has significantly impacted flight schedules and may still continue if the situation doesn't receive urgent attention.
