The United Kingdom authorities have announced that student, work, and family visas are not suspended for Nigerian citizens.
This was disclosed through a statement issued by the British high commission in Nigeria. The commission says that contrary to the speculations that the UK government has suspended all visa categories for Nigerians, "it was only its priority visa service that was temporarily suspended and not student, work, and family visas"
"Due to a reprioritization of resources in response to the humanitarian crisis arising from the invasion of Ukraine, the UK has temporarily suspended its priority visa service." The commission stated.
"As our 15 March statement, made clear, this temporary suspension only applies to the UKVI’s expedited, added-value ‘Priority’ and ‘Super Priority’ visa services" It added.
The commission however clarifies that the suspension is to enable the UK's global visa operation to prioritize applications for the new Ukraine Family Scheme.
It also apologizes to the general public for any inconvenience the development might cause and promised to issue an updated statement as soon as the Priority and Super Priority visa services resume.
