Finland Lifts All COVID-19 Travel Rules

Finland has announced the lifting of all Covid-19 rules for the travelers from the third country.

Travelers whose final destination is Finland or who wish to transit through the country will no longer be required to produce a valid proof of completion of the coronavirus vaccine process. The decision, which will make travel easier for travellers outside the European Union and the Schengen Zone, has been announced by the Finnish government. Finland's health authorities determined that the country's epidemiological situation enables such a move.

Finland's health authorities say there is no longer any medical reason to keep restrictions on the country's international borders in place due to a coronavirus outbreak. The removal of such limits, according to health officials, will result in an increase in the number of people arriving from countries outside the EU and the Schengen zone.

Finland's government issued a statement, which reads as follows:"The removal of restrictions is expected to increase traffic from third countries. For example, traffic on the eastern border may increase. Traffic volumes are affected by, among other things, the desire of Russians to travel and the number of valid visas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues visas to Finland.”

For all arrivals from European Union Member States, the Finnish government has abolished the internal border controls imposed as a result of COVID-19. Finland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming the decision, which took effect on January 31. The same Ministry stated at the time that the controls established on the country's exterior borders for arrivals from foreign nations would stay in force.

Finland's authorities have estimated that the epidemiological condition allows for the relaxation of travel restrictions in order to aid the country's recovery from the virus's effects. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a total of 1,125,342 people in Finland have tested positive for the Coronavirus since the outbreak began.
