Canada may no longer require passengers to have COVID-19 vaccinations before entering the country starting from September 30.
On Tuesday, a government insider revealed that the requirement and the random COVID-19 testing were likely to be dropped by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The ArriveCAN app would no longer be a necessary step in the entrance procedure, according to the source.
Regarding COVID-19 entry rules and restrictions,
Canada continues to be one of the strictest countries. Before entering the
nation, visitors must complete the ArriveCAN app and provide proof of their
current vaccinations. Pre-and post-arrival testing, as well as a required
quarantine period, are still in place for unvaccinated passengers. Because of
its stronger regulations and excellent vaccination rates, the Canadian Health
Ministry claims that the country has witnessed a noticeably decreased incidence
of COVID-19 illnesses and deaths, with around 85% of its population having
gotten at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
From the start of the pandemic to August 30,
2022, Canada recorded 4,192,880 cases and 44,112 fatalities. In
contrast, the United States recorded 1,044,730 COVID-19-related fatalities and
94,379,514 overall cases. Canada has performed better in reduction and
mitigation despite having a significantly lower population than the US.
