UAE Drops Covid-19 Mask Wearing Rules

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) plans to remove mask-wearing rules by Wednesday, September 28, 2022. This was announced on Monday by National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).

According to a tweet from NCEMA, t
he new regulations will take effect starting on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Masks will continue to be necessary at medical facilities, hospitals, mosques, and other places of worship. Additionally, patients with chronic illnesses continue to wear masks. While wearing face masks in class is now optional, the distance regulations at mosques will also be lifted.

PCR tests are no longer required unless symptoms are present. Individual airlines will now be able to choose whether or not to make masks a requirement onboard for passengers. UAE will also waive any restrictions for leaving the nation, with destination nations establishing regulations for entry while the rule remains unchanged for arrival. Quarantine is required for those who have contracted Covid-19 for five days.

Additionally, the UAE will no longer release daily infection data. Instead of every 14 days, those who work in Abu Dhabi will now need to get a PCR test every 30 days to keep their Al Hosn Green Status.

Currently, over one thousand cases have been officially reported in the UAE. The Ministry reported no deaths connected to COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours. By November 2021, every eligible person had received the vaccine thanks to the nation's pioneering vaccination campaign. In the Emirates, masks were required to be worn both inside and outside during much of the pandemic. However, the nation has led the world in its immunization campaign, and by November 2021, every eligible person had received the shot.
