After United Airlines discovered that several of its Boeing 777-200 aircraft had not received the necessary inspections of the front edges of their wings, the carrier reportedly canceled roughly 18 flights between Monday night and Tuesday morning as it is making an effort to rebook the affected passengers.
After failing to examine the flaps on the wing edges that are utilized during aircraft takeoffs and landings, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that United Airlines grounded 25 of its wide-body jumbo jets. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the events that allowed inspections to be missed.
Late on Tuesday afternoon, United announced that it had examined
10 of the aircraft and was working with the FAA to get the remaining to fly
within the next two weeks without canceling any more flights.
According to United's website, the aircraft can handle 276 to
364 individuals and are usually used for lengthy international flights.
