UK: Travelers To Experience Flight Disruption During Christmas Holidays

Flight disruption is to be experienced by United Kingdom travelers during the Christmas holidays due to an industrial action to be embarked on by the Border Force workers across the country.

Airports like Heathrow,
Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, and Cardiff which will be affected within eight days from 23rd to 31st December have negatively reacted to strike action.

According to Manchester Airport, "Some flights are likely to be canceled, and if the strikes cannot be averted then concrete and deliverable contingency measures must be put in place".

Gatwick Airport on the other hand says that "there will be additional staff around on strike days “to help with passenger welfare".
"We are disappointed that Border Force staff have decided to take strike action at this particular time. We hope that this dispute can be resolved as quickly as possible. We expect that flights will operate as normal and remain in regular contact with Border Force about their mitigation plans. Additional airport staff will also be made available to help with passenger welfare on strike days".  A spokesperson says.

Meanwhile, the management of Heathrow Airport has announced that it will put mitigation plans in place during the period as Manchester Airport confirmed that "it would work with airlines to ensure passengers have as much advance notice of canceled services as possible and warned that passengers may experience some delays due to immigration queues".

The Border Force staff and the government officials have however been urged to sit around the table so the issue can be resolved amicably as soon as possible.
