French authorities have been urged by the Chinese government to lift travel restrictions imposed on travelers from China as a result of the Coronavirus.
According to Mao Ning, a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative, "these restrictions are biased. This follows the declaration that France would extend its entry requirements until February 15. There will be mandatory COVID testing for everyone traveling from China to France."
France's Minister of Health, François Braun, described the
COVID-19 situation in China as "worrying" and emphasized that the
nation is no longer experiencing a high rate of hospitalizations.
"We are declining considerably, including with regard to
people in hospitals, but what is going on in China is worrying," Minister
Braun stated.
China has identified 156,252 new COVID-19 infection cases in the past seven days. China recorded 3,113 additional deaths during the
same time period. This month, European Union members came to an agreement to
implement basic safety measures. All member states should enact a pre-boarding
test requirement for all passengers traveling out of China.
Meanwhile, The Swedish Ministry of Health has announced that all travelers from China will continue to be required to present a negative COVID test result taken before their arrival. The testing requirement which will remain in place for another couple of weeks will apply to everyone irrespective of the vaccination status.
