Turkish Airlines Cancels Many Flights Over Strikes in France

Due to scheduled strikes by multiple unions, Turkey's national carrier Turkish Airlines had to cancel several flights to and from France.

The airline has announced that strikes over the government's proposed pension reforms have caused the cancellation of the following flights on Thursday and Friday: TK 7854 Sabiha Gökcen-Lyon, TK 1825 Istanbul-Paris, TK 7855 Lyon-Sabiha Gökcen, and TK 1826 Paris-Istanbul. TK 1830 and TK 1830 are also postponed until Friday. Due to strikes over the government's pension plans, France is experiencing delays in its flights.

French workers went on strike on Thursday in opposition to proposed changes to the pension system, which caused a decrease in fuel delivery and energy generation at many locations. According to EDF data, several of the nation's nuclear, thermal, and hydropower installations saw a reduction in the power supply of 8.2 gigawatts (GW) or 13% of total production. The strike, according to TotalEnergies, prevented fuel deliveries from its French refineries, while the Fos-sur-Mer refinery run by ExxonMobil unit Esso had resumed normal operations.

As of Wednesday, there was at least one product missing from 7% of French filling stations, but "there is no supply problem for service stations and the situation is improving", Olivier Gantois, head of the French Union for Petroleum, Energy, and Mobility Industries (UFIP) stated.

Although the cost of diesel product contracts in Europe has slightly increased recently, "overall the market doesn't seem to be reacting to the strikes in the same way it did during October 2022," Referring to a recent round of labor unrest, Pamela Munger, senior market analyst at energy analytics company Vortexa, stated
