Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
held its most recent Express Entry draw on April 13, 2023, and 3,500 candidates
received invitations to apply (ITAs) in an all-program draw. The Comprehensive
Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score for this draw was 486.
Candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) are taken into account in an all-program draw. The most recent draw on March 29 had the lowest CRS cut-off score since December 2020, at 481. More ITAs were given in the first few months of 2023 than in the entire year of 2022, indicating that Express Entry drawings were common in 2023.
Express Entry will provide permanent residence
status to 82,880 applicants this year; by 2025, that number is expected to
increase to 114,000. The second-highest monthly total since Express Entry's
debut in January 2015 was achieved in March when the IRCC issued 21,667 ITAs
over the course of four lotteries. The record for the most applicants invited
in a single month was broken by IRCC in February 2021, when 27,332 hopefuls
were invited in a single draw for the Canadian Experience Class.
According to the minister of immigration, Sean Fraser, PGWP holders would be eligible to submit an application for an 18-month renewal of their open work permit starting on April 6. Express Entry is a platform for managing applications that evaluate high-skilled economic immigrants based on variables like occupation, work history, age, language proficiency, education, and other aspects of human capital. A candidate has 60 days from the time they get an ITA to submit their complete application to IRCC. After reviewing the application, a police officer will decide if the applicant qualifies for permanent residence status.
