Japan has
unveiled a new and easier process for granting highly skilled professional
visas to international workers.
According to the Japanese Immigration Services Agency, those with master's degrees and annual salaries of at least 20 million yen ($151,000) will be given preference. Additionally, foreign applicants will be permitted to work there for a maximum of five years. This initiative intends to draw highly qualified individuals to Japan, which is known as one of the top locations for technologists seeking employment. The modification is anticipated to be advantageous to both foreign workers and students.
For advanced
academic research or advanced specialized or technical activity, applicants
with a master's degree or higher and an annual income of more than 20 million
yen or with a work history of at least 10 years and an annual income of more
than 20 million yen may be eligible for a five-year visa. A minimum of five
years of professional experience and a yearly income of at least 40 million yen
are requirements for participation in advanced business and management
activities.
The
points-based system used by the Japanese government to grant highly skilled
professional visas has been streamlined, making it simpler for these
individuals to apply for visas and find employment in Japan. This action is
anticipated to strengthen Japan's economy, which is now experiencing a labor
shortage, and foster cross-cultural exchange. Before requesting a permanent
visa, applicants must stay in Japan for three years.
