South Africa Announces Change In Work Visa System To Attract Foreign Workers

South Africa has announced that it will be changing its work visa system to attract foreign workers and investments.

The new technology will speed up the procedure and shorten the time needed to process a work visa. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa made the declaration during the South Africa Investment Conference.

The South African government is modernizing its work visa program to attract $110 billion in investments by 2028. For foreign workers seeking work visas, especially those with highly sought-after skills, the Trusted Employer Scheme and the points-based system will make it simpler. The reform will also assist in avoiding a backlog of visa requests similar to the one that occurred in March 2023, when a large number of foreign workers had their visas abruptly revoked.

The South African government is extending the use of the electronic visa system to 20 more nations and to new types of visas, including those for study, business, and intra-company transfers. Foreign businessmen and students will find it simpler to travel to South Africa as a result. The overhaul of the work visa system will make the application procedure more efficient and help avoid future delays.
