Turkish Airlines has announced its intention to
increase its presence in Poland with the addition of a flight to Krakow, its
second destination after Warsaw.
The airline is expanding its network and fleet as it approaches its 90th anniversary. It has begun connecting Krakow with Istanbul, offering tickets starting at $255 and operating flights using narrow-body aircraft three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Levent Konukçu, the carrier's Chief Investment
& Technology Officer, stated, "As the airline flies to more countries than
any other in the world, we are glad to add Krakow, our second destination in
Poland after Warsaw, to our flight network. With this route, our flag carrier
has reached 343 destinations in 129 countries. We will operate three weekly
reciprocal flights to Krakow, the historic former capital of Poland. We are
connecting Krakow to the world with Turkish Airlines’ unique flight
experience."
Krakow brings Turkish Airlines' total number of
destinations to 343, making it the airline with the most destinations in the
world. Ahmet Bolat, the chairman of Turkish Airlines, recently met with Linda
Dessau, the governor of Victoria, Australia, to examine potential flying
options. The airline will shortly mark its 90th anniversary, and it plans to
have over 800 aircraft in its fleet within the next ten years. The current
fleet consists of the Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330, and A350, as well as the
Boeing 737, 737 MAX, 777, and 787 Dreamliner.
Turkish Airlines operates more than 385 aircraft, each of which has an average age of 10.2 years. It plans to have 435 aircraft and a larger network of 400 destinations by the end of this year. Additionally, it made $2.7 billion in profit and transported over 71 million passengers by the end of 2022. Except for the Middle East and the Far East, the airline travelled beyond its 2019 capacity in every international location.
