The
UAE has announced the introduction of the Afseh app to combat money laundering and
maintain its financial system.
Both citizens and foreigners who are entering or leaving the country can use the app. Individuals must declare any financial assets as well as material assets such as precious metals, diamonds, or amounts greater than Dh60,000 to customs officials. Thanks to this rule, the UAE government can track large financial transfers and spot questionable activity.
The
Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP)
of the UAE developed the Afseh app, a mobile application. By creating an
account, and providing contact details, a description of the objects, and their
estimated value, users can use the app to declare cash and precious items. At
ports, airports, or land border crossings, a declaration form is then delivered
to customs officers. Instead of using the Afseh app, travellers can fill out a
customs declaration form, which is accessible at all airports, ports, and land
border crossings in the UAE.
