France has announced the launch of its new Olympic Consulate
system, which will process around 15,000 visa applications from international
athletes, 9,000 from journalists, and 9,000 from foreign delegations.
The French Ministry of Interior seeks to guarantee that visas are granted in a manner that supports the smooth running of the Games. Through the France-Visa platform, the new system will handle all digital applications for France Schengen visas, enabling France to electronically grant approximately 70,000 visas to delegations, athletes, and journalists.
From July 26 to September 8, 2024, France will host the
Olympic and Paralympic Games. Approximately 1.5 million spectators from around
the globe are anticipated. Applicants will not receive a visa sticker in their
passport; instead, their digital visas will be embedded into their
accreditation cards. Athletes and media covering the games will number in the
thousands and be hosted by the nation.
“In 2024, France will host the Summer Olympic Games
for the first time in a century and the Paralympic Games for the first time in
its history. It will host 15,000 athletes, over 9,000 accredited journalists,
and almost 1.5 million spectators from all over the world,” France Diplomacy.
