Saudi Arabia has announced the introduction of fingerprint
registration mandatory for dependents of expatriates aged 6 upward, to improve security and streamline access to government services and
permits for foreign residents.
The General Directorate of Passports has issued an immediate mandate to expedite processes and improve security measures for people living, working, or visiting Saudi Arabia.
The government implemented electronic visa extensions
for expatriates, allowing them to return to the Kingdom until the expiration of
their legal visa. This measure is part of the GDP's ongoing efforts to
streamline procedures and ensure smooth interactions with authorities.
Exit/re-entry visas were also created by the GDP, allowing foreign residents to
return to the Kingdom until their valid visas expired. This facilitates online
movement and payment of associated expenses.
Saudi Arabia has made biometric registration essential to provide a safe and efficient environment for both citizens and
expatriates. For exit/re-entry and final exit visas, foreign nationals should
have a valid passport valid for at least 90 days for re-entry applications and
60 days for final visas. The country's expatriate community is diverse, with
Asian nationals dominating the population, with 2.1 million Bangladeshi
citizens. Saudi Arabia's commitment to administrative efficiency is seen in the
adoption of mandatory biometric registration.
