All is now set for Nigeria's Air Peace to commence a direct flight operation from Lagos to Gatwick Airport in London. The operation of Air Peace will be starting on the 30th of March 2024
This follows the UK government's acceptance of Nigeria's minister of aviation and aerospace, Festus Keyamo's request to operate direct flights from Lagos to London.
The minister met in late January 2024 in London with Ben
Boiling, the CEO of NORSE Atlantic Airways, to examine Air Peace's possible
alliance with UK transportation authorities.
Due to problems with slot allocation at the destination airport,
Air Peace, which was granted a foreign carrier operator permission to fly in
the UK in November 2023, has yet to be able to begin operations.
According to the chief operating officer (CEO) of Air Peace Oluwatoyin
Olajide, “Since
securing its authorisation to fly into the UK, after satisfying all the
requirements, the issue of slot allocation at Gatwick Airport has been the
major obstacle preventing the Airline from commencing the direct flight into
London.”
According to Boiling's discussion with Keyamo, NORSE
Atlantic Airways is ready to start a collaboration with Air Peace once final
license is given for direct flights into Gatwick Airport, London.
