Italy has announced the extension of the deadline for
foreign citizens to apply for 151,000 work permits this year.
Submissions must be submitted by March 18 and the deadline for the last submissions is March 25. The foreign applicants are categorized into three groups.
Beginning on March 18, 2024, non-seasonal workers from
countries with bilateral or migratory agreements may apply for work permits in
Italy as 89,050 quota places have been allotted for this purpose. Commencing on
March 21, 2024, non-seasonal labourers from nations lacking such accords may
submit applications. On March 25, 2024, seasonal workers who will be in Italy
for a set amount of time may apply. The quota spaces for non-seasonal workers
will be 61,250, while the spots for foreign workers who work for themselves
will be 700 more. These groups will file for work permits on various dates,
according to clarification from the Italian authorities.
Foreign workers are awarded work permits on a
first-come, first-served basis; applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as
the application window opens. Applications must be submitted right away because
quotas are usually filled in a matter of hours. Italian firms might submit
petitions before Italy decides when to accept applications from foreign
workers. Therefore, those who are interested must apply as
soon as the opportunity for submissions opens.
On "click day," more than 82,550 requests for
foreign labour from the hotel, tourism, and agriculture sectors were made by
Italian employers. The countries with the largest foreign employees
were Pakistan, Senegal, Morocco, and Albania. Italy needs highly qualified
personnel, especially doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists, as it confronts a
workforce crisis in these fields. According to
Coldiretti, the country's agricultural industry association, demand in Italy is now high.
