UK announced a change in its policy regarding skilled immigration
significantly on April 4, 2024, when it raised the minimum wage for new
applicants under the Skilled Worker route from GBP 26,200 to GBP 38,700
annually.
There will be a minimum wage adjustment, however, candidates for health and care visas will be exempt. The yearly immigration health premium is now GBP 1,035 instead of GBP 624, while there are still reductions for students and those under the age of 18. The UK will switch from the Shortage Occupation List to the Immigration Salary List on March 14, 2024, which will make it more difficult for certain jobs to qualify for wage discounts. For positions that won't be able to pay the new, higher salary requirements, employers should fill them soon. The Global Business Mobility and Skilled Worker visas enable employers to plan ahead by enabling them to apply up to three months before the start date of the job.
The government will no longer need to sponsor license renewals
every four years; instead, licenses that expire on or after April 6, 2024, will
automatically be extended by ten years. Employers and jobseekers alike save
time and money by doing this. Candidates should keep up with qualified
occupations and get ready for a higher income barrier. Employers ought to
modify their hiring practices accordingly.
