The UAE has streamlined the process of obtaining passports, Emirates IDs, and residency permits, as part of its 'Zero Government Bureaucracy' initiative, making it easier for both the citizens and expatriates.
A major redesign of the passport issuance procedure for Emiratis and Emirates ID and residency permits has been announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). The goal of the redesign is to simplify services, cut down from four steps to one, and remove extraneous fields and attachments.
The application process, which
formerly required four steps, has been condensed into a single step by the ICP,
increasing client convenience and efficiency.
Passport applications now only need
four of the ten fields, while applications for an Emirates ID and residency
permit now only need six. This is a major simplification of the application
forms.
The system automatically fills in the remaining fields based on previously submitted data, eliminating the need to repeatedly input the same data.
The system has done away with the
requirement for photo attachments on ID cards, residency permits, and
passports. The technology updates users' photographs when necessary, removing
the need for mountains of paperwork by retrieving this data from already-existing
databases.
The United Arab Emirates is employing technology to optimize workflows. Examples of such procedures include the electronic management of misplaced passport declarations and the automated retrieval of citizens' health insurance data via institutional connections.
The payment process has been
transformed by Apple Pay and Google Pay, which saves applicants time by reducing
the number of data entry forms needed.
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, the UAE's ICP Director General, underlined the Authority's responsibility to give priority to customer needs and underlined the nation's dedication to a smooth and effective experience for everyone.
The UAE has streamlined the
application process for residency permits, Emirates IDs, and passports. By
removing attachments and cutting down on paperwork, the procedure is now
speedier and more convenient for all parties.
