Quebec is the biggest province in Canada in terms of landmass and the second-largest by population. French is the primarily spoken language, and it is well-known for its rich cultural legacy and energetic cities like Montreal and Quebec City.
Quebec has established a limit on the number of family sponsorship applications that can be submitted. Until June 25, 2026, 13,000 applications can be submitted. Because of the continued difficulties, this cap was implemented to control the sponsorship amount and manage the province's resources effectively.
Sponsored spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children at least 18 years old will be limited to 10,400 applications under the new caps. Parents, grandparents, and other eligible family members will be the recipients of the 2,600 applications that are left.
Persons who fall under this exemption include dependent minor children of sponsors, orphaned minor children of sponsors' relatives, and adult children of sponsors who are disabled but rely on their parents. Only sponsors who, as defined by CIC News, are single or not in a common-law partnership are eligible for this exemption.
Dependents currently awaiting permanent resident status or those whose sponsors have dependents on the current list of applications are not affected by this limit.
