United Airlines Boosts Lagos-Washington D.C. Flights to Daily

United Airlines has announced a significant increase in flights from Lagos, Nigeria to Washington D.C., upgrading from three times weekly to daily flights from December 4, 2024, to February 14, 2025. This expansion represents a 133% year-over-year increase in seats for the period.

For the first time, United's Lagos to Washington D.C. service will operate daily, offering customers in Nigeria more travel options and convenient daytime connections to over 70 destinations across the Americas. The flight remains the only nighttime departure from Lagos to the U.S.

United's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft will service this route, featuring 28 United Polaris business class lie-flat seats, 21 United Premium Plus premium economy seats, 36 Economy Plus seats, and 158 standard economy seats. The Dreamliner's design prioritizes customer comfort with large windows, spacious overhead storage, and modern LED lighting.

Oluwatomi Bola-Sadipe, United's Country Sales Manager for Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, expressed excitement about the increased flights, stating, "Africa is integral to United's global network, and we're proud to offer customers in Nigeria more travel choices and convenient connections to destinations across the Americas."

United has expanded its presence in Africa, adding Marrakesh, Morocco, to its network from October 25, 2024, and operating routes from Cape Town, South Africa, to New York/Newark and Washington D.C., Johannesburg, South Africa, to New York/Newark, and Accra, Ghana, to Washington D.C.

United's premium offerings include United Polaris business class, featuring quality dining, amenity products, and fully flat-bed seats; United Premium Plus, offering spacious seats with more legroom and recline; and United Economy Plus, providing added legroom and personal space.

Customers in Nigeria can book flights online. United operates over 200 daily flights to 107 destinations worldwide from its Washington Dulles hub, serving as the international gateway to the U.S. capital.

Thorsten Lettnin, United Airlines Director Sales, Continental Europe, Middle East, Africa, Israel, and India, highlighted United's position as the largest airline in the world, connecting customers to most destinations globally. The airline has a firm order of 500 modern aircraft, receiving 100 aircraft annually for five consecutive years.

The United Airlines app is the ultimate travel companion, assisting customers from planning to booking and day-of travel. United's African network includes six new routes from its Newark and Washington Dulles hubs, with Marrakech being the first destination in Morocco to receive U.S. flights.
