Canada Welcomes 13 More Countries with Visa-Free Travel

Get ready to visit Canada with ease! A new initiative grants visa-free air travel to passport holders from 13 countries, simplifying visits and speeding up overall visa processing.

Minister Sean Fraser announced this change, which will divert applications from Canada’s visa backlog. The eligible countries are the Philippines, Morocco, Panama, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Seychelles, and Thailand.

To qualify for visa-free travel, you must have held a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or currently hold a valid US non-immigrant visa. You will also need a valid passport (at least 6 months beyond your trip) and no criminal convictions.

This program benefits Canada by attracting more visitors and boosting tourism and business for the eligible countries.

Over 50 countries already enjoy visa-free entry to Canada with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA). US citizens don't need an eTA or visa unless working or studying. Other non-exempt nationals still require a Temporary Residence Visa (TRV), typically for stays of up to six months.

To apply for an eTA, visit the online portal, complete the form, and pay the CAD$7 fee. Most approvals are instant, though some may take up to 72 hours for additional document requests.

This move highlights Canada's commitment to global relationships, tourism, and efficient immigration while maintaining border security.
