FG Suspends Emirates Airlines From Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has suspended all operations of Emirates Airline from the country as part of the measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.


The Honorable Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika disclosed this on Friday, September 18 after a meeting with the European Union Ambassadors
led by the EU Head of Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Ketil Karlsen. At the meeting, the EU delegation made a passionate appeal to the Nigerian Government to review the restrictions placed on European Airlines; Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France.

Emirates airline' situation was also reviewed at the meeting and the carrier has been included on the list of airlines not approved to operate in Nigeria.

Senator Sirika took to his twitter handle and twitted as follows:

"The PTF subcommittee met today with EU Ambassadors to discuss Lufthansa, Air France/KLM ban. The meeting progressed well. Emirates Airlines’s situation was reviewed & they are consequently included in the list of those not approved, with effect from Monday the 21st Sept. 2020".
