CAA Warns Airlines Against Boarding Passengers From Banned Countries.

The Civil Aviation Authority has advised airline operators against airlifting passengers from banned countries.

The CAA on Thursday stated in a statement that only passengers who have been granted exceptions should be allowed to travel from one country to another.

Pakistan's arm of the CAA shed more light on this that: “It has come to light that some passengers have been attempting to travel to Pakistan using fake exemption letters forged by local entities.” This did not only risk people's life against the spread of Covid-19 but also caused a serious risk of transmission of the virus among the countries.

According to the statement, restrictions have been issued for the airlines to prevent them from boarding passengers from high-risk countries.

Exemption letters not to be accepted without receipt of the destination country.

Details of the passengers to be shared with the Civil Aviation Authority(CAA) before traveling.

Failure to comply with the rules will attract severe penalties.

In the meantime, the Indian government has cut down capacity for the airlines to operate from 80 percent to 50 percent from 1st June in order to safeguard the viability of the carriers. This has led to an increase in airfare by around 14 percent.
