United Airlines Resumes Ghana Flight Operations.

United Airlines has on Saturday relaunched its flight operations from Washington, D.C. U.S to Accra, Ghana, after a long break.


The statement by Ghana's Minister of Transport Kweku Ofori Asiamah during a broadcast meeting held at the space of the Kotoka International Airport praised United Airlines for its decision to relaunch the Washington - Accra flight operations. 

The report has it that the carrier will commence its operation with three weekly services being Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and wished to develop to daily flights.

United Airlines initially came to Ghana in June 2010 and left after two years of operations.

The minister says in his speech that “we are grateful for the decision of United Airlines to return to the coasts of Ghana at a tough time in the international flying industry and for selecting Kotoka International Airport to encourage closer bonds among the two countries, given us a second direct access to the U.S.’’ 

The Pandemic had caused destruction on the international flying industry, the introduction of injections was offered to encourage the traveler’s and Ghana was on the path to recovery, says the Minister.

“We promise that the Transport Ministry will offer all participants the necessary provision including  the use of 5th freedom rights to develop roads towards Accra to confirm the realization of government’s idea of making Ghana a favorite flight in West Africa.” The minister stated.

However, he assures international travelers high-quality service anytime they chose Accra as their transit or terminus.
