Authorities in Cyprus have announced the reopening of its borders for international students.
North Cyprus which closed its borders again in July to curb the spread of a new wave of coronavirus pandemic says the country is now set to welcoming both old and new students to various campuses in the country based on travel conditions set for each country.
According to the statement by the North Cyprus authorities, "we are pleased to announce that after the hard work of Universities and the Northern Cyprus government, the travel ban on all countries had been lifted. Students will have entry based on the conditions set for their countries. These conditions have to do with the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in such countries."
From Sunday, August 15, 2021, people coming from high-risk countries with a student certificate to be notified by the National Education and Culture Ministry or to register as a new student will be able to enter the country on the condition of negative PCR test results from the last 72 hours and upon entry and 14 days quarantine.
In the meantime, Turkish Airlines has announced the resumption of flights to Ercan, North Cyprus for both old and new students from Sunday 15 August.
According to Turkish Airlines, a student certificate must be approved by the Ministry of Education before such a student could be airlifted. Negative PCR test results Taken within 72 hours before departure and the PCR test results when entering the Island.
Upon arrival, students must undergo a mandatory 14 days quarantine at home or in a hotel.
All transfers from Ercan Airport to home or Hotels shall be paid for by the students.
