The United Arab Emirates UAE's national carrier, Emirates Airlines has announced the further suspension of flights between the UAE and Nigeria until 15 August 2021.
This came up shortly after the UAE authorities issued new exemptions for stranded residents from Nigeria and 5 other countries from where passengers' entry is suspended.
According to Emirates airline, "Emirates’ flights to and from Nigeria will remain suspended until 15 August 2021." The carrier stated on its official website.
It added that "customers who have been to or connected through Nigeria in the last 14 days will not be permitted on any Emirates flights bound for Dubai as all the affected flight bookings have been cancelled already."
The carrier also advised customers whose travel dates are not related to travelling within the next 48 not to contact the airline, as the contact centre is witnessing a huge volume of calls at the moment.
It stated further that only passengers whose travel schedules are related to travel within the next 48 hours would be attended to.
"Passengers whose flights have been cancelled or affected by route suspensions due to COVID‑19 restrictions can simply hold on to their Emirates tickets until the airline resumes operations or contact their booking agents for possible flight reschedule." The Airline stated.
The carrier has however regretted any inconvenience this might have caused.
