The United Arab Emirates, UAE has introduced visa-on-arrival for citizens from 70 countries.
The list which excludes the likes of Nigeria and South Africa was on Wednesday released by Abu Dhabi-based carrier, Etihad Airways. The list comprises the names of countries whose visitors can receive visas at the immigration desks upon arriving at Abu Dhabi airport.
According to the airline, the list which includes the likes of Seychelles and Mauritius from Africa has excluded the giants of the African continent like Nigeria and South Africa. Nigeria was said to have been excluded from the list due to the indefinite suspension of flights between the African most populous nation and the UAE.
The Airline also stated that visitors who had been to Nigeria or South Africa for 14days before traveling will not be allowed to enter the UAE.
Countries whose citizens are to benefit from the visa on arrival policy are:
Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, and Estonia.
Others include Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong (SAR of China), Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, and Mexico.
Also included on the list are Monaco, Montenegro, Nauru, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, People’s Republic of China, Peru, Poland, Republic of Mauritius, Republic of El Salvador, Portugal, Romania, Russian, Saint, Vincent, and the Grenadines, San Marino, Serbia.
The remaining countries include Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Vatican, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Uruguay.
Recall that Ghana and the UAE on August 5, 2021, signed a memorandum of understanding with the UAE where both countries agreed to a mutual exemption of entry visa requirements regarding diplomatic, service/special, and ordinary passport holders, whose background and conduct follow public and state security apparatus.
