Kenya And British Airways Sign Codeshare Agreement

Kenya Airways and British Airways have entered a codeshare agreement.

The new codesharing agreement was disclosed by British Airways. The airline says that the codesharing will open up more destinations for passengers across Africa and Europe.

As a result of the new development, Kenya Airways' passengers are expected to experience seamless connectivity to about 26 destinations across the United Kingdom and Europe. This includes Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Dublin, Aberdeen, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, as well as Athens, Malaga, and Lisbon.

British Airways passengers flying from London will also be able to connect to 20 more destinations, including Douala, Zanzibar, Lusaka, Mombasa, Addis Ababa, Entebbe across East and Central Africa that Kenya Airways operates to, including Mauritius and Seychelles

Currently, Kenya Airways offers five weekly flights from Nairobi to London Heathrow, every day apart from Wednesdays and Fridays.

According to Julius Thairu, chief commercial, and customer officer at Kenya Airways, “the codeshare agreement with British Airways to provide our travelers with a seamless journey to and from Europe and Africa is very strategic. It will increase choices for thousands of passengers and will allow for smooth connectivity to a significant number of new destinations particularly throughout Africa and Europe. By harnessing our complementary strengths, it will also provide benefits to aid the recovery of international travel and meet the increasing demand.”

Christopher Fordyce, British Airways’ head of alliances stated that: “After a difficult 20 months with global travel restrictions, it’s fantastic to see travel between the UK and Africa resuming.”
