British Airways Stops Sales Of Tickets In Nigeria

The lingering issues facing the aviation sector in Nigeria seem not to have any solution yet as British Airways, the flag carrier of the United Kingdom UK temporarily suspended the sales of tickets in the Nigerian market.

A report has it that  British Airways has closed its inventories in Nigeria, confirmation of the news that has been trending that the airline has stopped selling brand-new tickets for flights to Nigeria.

Despite debunking the rumor by the National Association Of Nigeria Travel Agency which met with the representative of British Airways, the airline is yet to reopen its inventory.

According to reports, the airline has stated that it will no longer be selling new tickets as its inventory for its Nigerian operations is closed. The airline stated that it was pleased and prepared for many more years of business connections with Nigeria in 2016, as part of the commemoration of its 80 years of operating in Nigeria.

The International Air Transport Association has expressed worry about Nigeria's move to prevent international airlines from remitting ticket sales proceeds of $450 million (N188.6 billion) into their respective nations (IATA). IATA also disclosed that as of July 2022, $464 million in foreign airline revenue from Nigeria is being held back from being repatriated
