Egypt has announced that it will start
issuing multiple-entry visas for the first time and increase the number of
countries eligible for visas on arrival. A 30-day single-entry visa on arrival
will cost $25 while the visa itself will cost $700. Egypt wants to see a 25% to
30% rise in tourists per year.
The country's tourism minister made the news, saying a single-entry 30-day visa on arrival will cost $25 and be available to more than 180 nationalities, while a five-year multiple-entry visa will cost $700.
The Egyptian government has increased
the number of nationalities eligible for entry on arrival to encourage tourism
in the nation, which has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the
Russia-Ukraine war. According to the ministry of tourism, 30% more people
visited Egypt in the first two months of this year, but 40% and 80% fewer
visitors from Russia and Ukraine. The nation intends to increase the number of
nationalities eligible by 2023 to meet its goal.
Along with extending visa-on-arrival,
the country is working to streamline entry procedures for Moroccans, Turks,
Israelis, Algerians, and Iranians. Soon, further details regarding these
processes will be made public. The five-year multiple-entry visa that the
Egyptian government has decided to issue is anticipated to have a positive impact
on the country's tourist sector, which is a substantial source of income for
the economy. Long-term tourism and economic growth are anticipated to be
boosted by initiatives to expand the nations for which visa-on-arrival
eligibility is available and by streamlining entrance procedures for other
nationalities.
