Immigration New Zealand has announced a 20% increase in
student visa applications to improve efficiency and streamline the application process.
The country's personnel now have better evaluation tools at their disposal, which allows for faster application processing and timely status reports for applicants. The purpose of this action is to inform students about the prospects for studying in New Zealand.
In contrast to the peak period of 2022–2023, there have been
20% more applications for student visas in New Zealand. For 80% of cases, the
processing time for a New Zealand student visa is six weeks, and the cost of
the visa starts at $375 (NZD). In order to study in New Zealand, one must be
enrolled full-time in an approved school and pay course fees. This type of visa
is called a Fee Paying Student Visa. With the option to work part-time for up
to 20 hours per week while studying, the visa allows full-time study at the
specified institution, which includes schools, universities, and English language
programs.
Students can include their partners or children in their
visa applications, provided they meet eligibility criteria. The duration of the
student visa usually aligns with the length of the enrolled study program, but
adjustments may be necessary if passport expiry dates precede the study end
date. Distance learning or correspondence students studying outside New Zealand
can apply for a student visa if their visit exceeds three months for practical
study or examination purposes.
