The European Union EU has taken a step towards attracting skilled foreign workers to the European member states. This involves simplifying the process of obtaining a single work permit.
The single work permit is a combination of both work and residence work permits for the European Union (EU) countries. The EU's aim of introducing the single work permit is to open the door for skilled foreign workers to reside and work legally in the European member states and avoid the stress of getting double work permits.
The newly introduced Single Permit will no doubt help in resolving the problem of labour shortage being faced by the EU member states at the present time.
Permit holders who lose their jobs are to be protected with a grace period of 3 to 6 months to secure new jobs before forfeiting their permit. However, this grace period can be extended if the permit holder faced exploitation from previous employer(s).
