The United Kingdom UK has implemented a new regulation that permits tourists to work remotely while on holiday in the country, provided that tourism remains the primary objective of the visitor.
The UK has since the beginning of the year 2024 granted visitors access to work remotely. According to the UK's immigration update, foreigners in possession of visitor visas can only work remotely during their period of staying in the UK. They are not allowed to participate in the local labour market, work for UK-based companies, or directly provide products and services to the general public.
To improve the experience for UK professionals, the country is extending its list of Permitted Paid Engagements to include conference speakers' payments. This will enable them to complete their activities within 30 days of arrival.
The visa also welcomes researchers scientists and academics. As part of their visit, there are also opportunities to do research.
