Canada Plans to Extend Off-Campus Work Hours for International Students to 24 Hours

International students in Canada will soon be allowed to work up to 24 hours per week off-campus, an increase from the current limit of 20 hours. This change is expected to take effect sometime this fall, although the exact implementation date has not been confirmed.

The new rule aims to provide international students with more flexibility and opportunities to gain work experience in Canada. Currently, international students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week off-campus during regular academic sessions. However, during scheduled breaks, such as summer or winter holidays, there is no limit on the number of hours students can work.

The increase in work hours will enable international students to take on more work responsibilities, earn a higher income, and better support themselves while pursuing their studies in Canada. This change is also expected to benefit Canadian employers, who will have access to a larger pool of skilled and talented workers.

It's worth noting that international students must still meet certain requirements to be eligible to work off-campus. These requirements include being enrolled full-time in a designated learning institution, having a valid study permit, and making satisfactory progress in their program of study.

Overall, the increase in off-campus work hours for international students in Canada is a positive development that will provide students with more opportunities to gain work experience, earn a higher income, and achieve their academic and career goals.
