Aviation experts have revealed that the rate of COVID-19 infections is lower among airline workers than among the general population. The experts said the data indicates that the series of safety measures put in place by the airlines during the COVID-19 pandemic are effective.
According to the airline executive and union leaders, the safety protocols airlines are taking onboard are having impact.
The chief executive of United Airlines Scott Kirby said on Wednesday at a forum hosted by Politico, "at United, but also at our large competitors, our flight attendants have lower COVID infection rates than the general population, which is one of the multiple data points that speak to the safety onboard airplanes".
According to Delta CEO Ed Bastian, while speaking at the SAP Concur forum on Thursday, September, 17 said: "If the experience of flying was not safe, you'd expect our people to get sick". "We track the health of our people. Our people are meaningfully less infected than the general population."
The president of American Airlines, Robert Isom also made a similar claim and said: "The actions we have taken to ensure the safety and well-being of our team and customers are working."
Data has also backed it up that very few airline workers have tested positive for Covid-19, compare to the general population.
Sara Nelson, president of the AFA also has this to say, "I really want to applaud our airlines and our airports who have really stepped up, all of that is evidence that the policies that have been put in place and the practices that have been put in place have helped to really decrease the risk of spreading coronavirus and in a lot of ways really control it in air travel better than on almost any other place in our communities."
These have really shown and enough to convince the public that flying is safe.
