The Canadian government has declared a severe labor shortage and has invited Nigerians and other foreign nationals to fill open positions in a variety of fields across the nation's economy. With an aging population and declining birth rates in North America, immigration is still one of the methods used by employers of labor to fill open positions and promote economic growth.
The following are the methods adopted by the Canadian Government to fill the open positions:
The government permitted Post-Graduation Work Permits to be extended in
order to make it simpler for international students to stay in Canada and
obtain experience working there (PGWPs). With their PGWPs about to expire,
overseas students are now able to extend their enrolment by 1.5 years (18
months). Many international students were concerned that their status might
lapse before they could apply for permanent residency after Express Entry draws
were suspended in September of last year. International students studying in
Canada will be able to pursue new possibilities, fill open positions, and become
qualified for permanent residency in Canada by having their status as PGWP
holders extended.
The Express Entry drawings will start up again in July, according to the
federal government. Express Entry is Canada's main system for luring
international talent and handling immigration requests. Additionally, the
government is currently passing Bill C-19, which provides the immigration
minister with additional authority over who is chosen for the draws.
