The Canadian government has reinstated the requirement for random Covid-19 testing of vaccinated international travelers. The testing has been restarted on Tuesday 19th of July in at least four major airports across the country. The airports involve are Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto.
Passengers will be able to submit to testing outside of airports as part of the most recent change or schedule a virtual appointment. The development is part of the government's plans to support the efforts to stop the spread of the virus. Passengers who have received no vaccinations, some vaccinations, or neither will need to submit to testing outside of airports as part of the most recent change.
Those who are completely immunized will be subject
to a 14-day forced quarantine, while those who are not will be required to take
a test on the first and eighth days of their mandatory confinement. The test
must be completed by those chosen at random within a day of their arrival. The
Public Health Agency of Canada mandated a 10-day isolation period for the
traveler if the test results were positive.
Canadian Transport
minister Omar Alghabra stated, “As demand for travel increases across the
world, today’s announcement marks an important step in our progress to streamline
testing processes outside our airports while preventing the further spread of
Covid-19.
“The
Government of Canada will continue to protect travelers and employees and
ensure our transportation system is safe, reliable, and resilient for the long
term.”
