With effect from Wednesday, July 20, 2022, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended Dana Airlines' Air Transport License (ATL) and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) indefinitely. The management of Dana Airlines has since received the suspension order issued by the Director General, Captain Musa Nuhu.
According to NCAA spokesman Sam Adurogboye, the decision was made as a result of a financial and economic health audit performed on the airline by the Authority and the results of a recent investigation into the flight operations of the airline, which showed that Dana Airlines is no longer able to meet its financial obligations and carry out safe flight operations.
He added that while the NCAA recognizes the impact this preventative action would have on the passengers of the airline and the general traveling public, it sincerely hopes they will appreciate that the safety of flight operations comes first.
Meanwhile, the management of Dana Air has tendered its sincere apology to customers and travel partners for the inconveniences the suspension of operations might cause them, promising that the airline will bounce back stronger and better.
