The procedure for obtaining a family visa has been made easier for foreign nationals residing in Kuwait. The requirement of a university degree to apply for a family visa has been eliminated, according to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior. Foreign nationals without a university degree may apply to become residents of Kuwait by sponsoring their spouses and minor children.
Under Kuwaiti law, foreign people with a valid work permit may sponsor their dependents, such as spouses or minor children, to reside in Kuwait, receive certain social benefits, and pursue educational possibilities. This is known as a family visa.
Before this modification was announced, there were stringent requirements to obtain a family visa for Kuwait. The foreign national must earn the minimum wage or more than the income criterion and possess a university degree. This posed a significant challenge, particularly for foreign workers in specialized trades or in industries where a college degree may be optional.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Defence, Sheikh Fahad AI Yousuf AI Sabah, ordered the new adjustments to be implemented. The removal of a university degree from the application process, a rise in the minimum salary requirement to KD800 (about Dh9,600), and the necessity that an applicant's occupation in Kuwait match their academic background are among the modifications made to the Family visa.
It is anticipated that the new approach will benefit foreign visitors to Kuwait. Their well-being and stability are enhanced by their ease of reunification with their relatives. Additionally, skilled individuals from several sectors in Kuwait are acknowledged for their important services.
